“Region free” are two words which are music to the ear of anyone who endured the yoke of DVD restrictions. So we’re hoping for the sake of convenience Australia (Blu-ray region “B”) is treated the same as the US (“Blu-ray region “A”) when District 9 makes its way to Blu-ray.

Why? Because Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced the Blu-ray disc release of District 9 will include a demo for God of War 3.

Completing the demo will unlock a making-of-the-game featurette as well. We’re crossing our fingers for this to also apply to Australia – we’ll update if/when we hear of local plans.

District 9 is expected to be on sale on Blu-ray December 30th in Australia.
