TV prices to soar after Christmas deals

If your looking for a new TV to go with your blu-ray player you may want to act fast. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Television manufacturers have flagged price increases of up to 30 per cent early in the new year as the slumping exchange rate and years of price wars ravage margins.

If a 30% increase in TV cost isn’t enough to win you over, their are a number of bonus offers from various vendors. Up until Christmas Eve, Samsung is offering a free BD-P1500 Blu-ray player valued at $499 to anyone who buys one of its full HD plasma or LCD TVs.

Over the same period, Panasonic will give a free Nintendo Wii valued at $399.95 to buyers of its VIERA full HD plasmas.

Toshiba is offering a $799 netbook computer with its 37-inch, 42-inch and 46-inch LCD TVs until the middle of January.

But LG has trumped all three manufacturers, offering a bonus 26-inch LCD TV valued at $949 to anyone who buys selected models in its LCD and plasma TV range.
